A busy week on the PoliOptic front, but this post will be brief as the conversation on the show is much better than my poor power to summarize.

Our first guest is Doris Kearns Goodwin, author of The Bully Pulpit: Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft and the Golden Age of Journalism. I can humbly admit here that I’ve long harbored a bit of a crush on Doris, but it seems I now have to get far back in line behind Ron Burgundy. Nevertheless, it was a thrill to be able to talk to Doris at length about her new book.

Our second guest is my old friend Bob McNeeley, Official White House Photographer for President Bill Clinton. Bob is the author of The Clinton Years: The Photographs of Bob McNeely. Yes, we get into the current row over media access for photojournalists and the new technologies that allow the White House to distribute its imagery that, in prior administrations, took years to emerge from the archives, if ever. The news photographers have an understandable beef, but the taxpayers pay for these images, so shouldn’t they decide whether they can see them in close to real time?

Our third guest is Chuck Todd, for his third appearance on the show, and we pick up where Bob and I left off, and cover a range of other issues as well ripped from the headlines this week. Chuck, and you all must now, is chief White House correspondent and political director of NBC News and host of the Daily Rundown on MSNBC. What you might not know is that Chuck is now also the host of the brand spanking new Unscripted on SiriusXM’s POTUS Channel 124, filling a spot on the weekend lineup right after PoliOptics.
