Our first guest this week is one of my favorite PoliOpticians.  Fred Davis, in my humble opinion, is a creative genius who’s brand of political advertising always gets noticed.  His firm, Strategic Perceptions Inc. is based in the Hollywood Hills and along with his partners, Fred has crafted some of the most memorable and viral political films in the last 20 years.

“If I picked what’s on my tombstone, it would be: ‘If you don’t notice it, why bother?'” Fred N.Davis III

I met Fred in Minneapolis, MN in 2008 when he was serving as the Creative Director for the 2008 Republican National Convention.  Fred’s work for the convention involved every element from the low key set design to the writing, shooting and production of more than 100 high-definition video backgrounds and 24 films.  I had a terrific vantage point from which to appreciate his work and learn from him at the same time.

In the time since then Fred has only ramped up his creative output.  His mark on the 2010 campaign cycle is now legendary.  “I am not witch”  ring a bell?  Yup, that’s Fred.  “Demon Sheep.  Yup, that was Fred too.

During this episode of PoliOptics, Josh King and I get deep in the weeds with a very candid Fred Davis.  Have a listen and you’ll enjoy some wonderful stories, a few trade secrets and a preview of what’s to come from Fred in the 2012 presidential campaign cycle.

Reporting from Washington D.C. and delivering the polioptics of American public discourse to the rest of the world.

Our second segment this week also happens to be with a friend of mine, Rosiland Jordan.  Ros and I go way back to my first job in journalism at WFXT, Fox 25 in Boston, Mass.  Ros was a reporter assigned to weekend news, and I was her assignment editor.  Years later we teamed again at Tribune Broadcasting in Washington D.C., this time covering national political stories.  Nowadays, Ros is leading a strong crew of reporters at Al Jezeera English — the English language arm of the most well known middle eastern TV network.

If you’re a PoliOptics fan, than you’ve likely already guessed that this discussion is one Josh King was going to love.  And he did.  And I hope you will too.  Ros’ insight into recent events in Libya, Syria, Iran and the departure of super-envoy Dennis Ross, opened my eyes.
