Episode 1, with guest Jonathan Prince, Democratic Strategist, previewing the State of The Union

Jonathan Prince is our interview guest this week.
Show produced by Katherine Caperton
Original Air Date: January 22, 2011 on SiriusXM Satellite Radio “POTUS” Channel 124.  Click above to listen.

As President Obama and the White House speechwriting team hacked away at the 2011 State of the Union Message to Congress, Josh King and I hopped into the studio to record the inaugural broadcast of POLIOPTICS ON P.O.T.US on Sirius|XM Satellite Radio.  P.O.T.U.S. airs on Channel 110 on Sirius and Channel 130 on XM.

[P.O.T.U.S. stands for “Politics of the United States,” drawn from the governmenty acronym for “President of the United States,” not to be confused with FLOTUS (First Lady of the United States) or SCOTUS (Supreme Court of the United States).]

The show, as we say, is designed to “shine a light on the theater of politics,” and what a week it was to do just that: the State of the Union prep work and a host of other issues coursing through the lenses of photographers and photojournalists working in Washington and elsewhere.

We were joined on this week’s show by former Clinton White House speechwriter Jonathan Prince to help us break down everything that goes into preparing the State of the Union and how it differs from other presidential speeches.

Have a listen by clicking on the link just below the headline for this post and join us via satellite for future broadcasts.  The current plan is for the show to air three times each Saturday at 6:00 a.m., 12 noon and 6:00 p.m.
