This is our final show of the year, our 83rd over two years.

Mark Updegrove is our first guest, an eminent historian and executive director of the LBJ Presidential Library in Austin, Texas, which reopens today, on the occasion of what would have been Lady Bird Johnson’s 100th birthday, after a $10 million renovation.

Michael Beschloss, the Don Draper of American scholarship (Shelby Foote is a close second), is our final guest of the year. And appropriately so, as historians of his unrivaled caliber are always afforded the last word. Michael, the author of a shelf of bestsellers chronicling our 20th Century leaders, has found a new way to reach the masses with perspective on the span of events: Twitter. Using his handle @BeschlossDC, Michael’s mounting legion of followers are treated many times a day to obscure and intriguing imagery from the Oval Office and beyond. So, if you don’t have time to march your way through Robert Caro this holiday season, spend some time reviewing Michael’s twitter feed for a photographic journey through presidential history.
