This week, Images and the people who make them.

Mark McKinnon

We’re headin’ on down to Texas for a chat with Mark McKinnon, global vice chair of Hill & Knowlton Strategies, a one-time protégé of the dynamic duo of James Carville and Paul Begala, and then the famed media advisor to Governor George W. Bush during the 2000 Campaign. For ornithologists, Texas is a haven for rare birds, and in politics, Mark is truly a rare Texas bird: once working for democrats, then for republicans, now for all Americans as the co-founder of No Labels.

Charlie Dharapak’s image of Michelle Obama at Target

Then, it’s back up to the White House to check in with Charlie Dharapak, one of the legendary shooters who cover Washington for the Associated Press. With a camera in his hand and looking through the lens, Charlie’s seen it all, most recently at Camp David covering the G-8, then back to Washington to cover the Secret Service hearings. The White House News Photographers Association recently named Charlie Photographer of the year, and we’ll talk to him about some of his most iconic images, notably, the First Lady’s trip to an Alexandria Virginia Target wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap.
